Marilena Magalotti

Marilena Magalotti, born in Cesena, graduated in Architecture from the University of Florence in 1997 and began her experience in design in Milan.

In 2001 she partnered with m&a - mutti&architects, working on projects of the conversion of industrial sites, such as Ventura-Lambrate (Ex Faema) and the Ex Giò Style complex. Together they realized several innovative projects, such as "Casa sul tetto", winner of the A.prize 2010 and nominated for the Mies van der Rohe 2009 award.

m&a exhibited at the Venice Biennale in 2004, in 2005 in China "Tradition and Modernity" and at the MixedMedia Milano in 2006. Finalists in several international architecture competitions such as the 2006 "Betile - Mediterranean Museum of Nuragic and Contemporary Art" and winners of  "Small Railway Stations" competition in 2007. 

She founded the MAP studio in 2009 along with Piera Patera, pursuing the concept of architecture as a field of research and experimentation. The design of the new Negrotto Building residential complex in 2012, deepens the themes of the study of spaces and recycled materials, during the participation in the exhibition "What things are we?" at the Triennale Milano in 2010. 

Since 2015, Marilena Magalotti Architettura has been working between Milan and Cesena. In 2019 she was a finalist in the "Fabbrica della Meraviglia" competition  and developped new collaborations in the headquarters of Via Bistolfi where she founded AREA49 along with the studio Camera&partners and Proginvest (Davide Camera, Ilaria Camera and Giacomo Penco).
