Negrotto Building

What: transformation and extension of a former industrial area into a residential complex
Who: Supernova srl
Where: Milan - Italy
When: 2011 - 2013
AREA: 2000 sq. m
AREA49: Marilena Magalotti | MAP

The area of the project is located in the Bovisa district, in the northern area of the Municipality of Milan, physically and historically delimited by the railway tracks, which surround the district for most of its extension.

The intervention strategy foresees a study of the articulation of the volumes, suitably ventilated and illuminated with double heights overlooked by the mezzanines. The creation of private gardens, terraces, loggias that also ensure a good presence of greenery within the living space, also recreate the feeling of a common courtyard overlooked by all the new units and give life to a new residential block.

Three different typologies have been studied in the whole complex, adapting to the existing buildings and experimenting with different spatial and dimensional solutions.

One of these typologies offers the opportunity to have a vertical development on three levels with a double height living room on the ground floor and a linear staircase that joins the various floors and leads to the attic, suitably ventilated and illuminated due to the roof cuts; every single module is equipped with a private garden or a loggia.
