AREA: 180.000 sq. m
AREA49: Giacomo Penco | Proginvest
The project for a new urban park in L'Aquila that aims to reconnect the historical fabric of the city that was devastated by the earthquake, to a new area of urban development for the future.
The available area (former Piazza d'Armi) is thus divided and reinterpreted following the imprint of the Roman centuriation.
The resulting patchwork makes it possible to merge the existing sports fields within a system of paths and the green strips are treated in a differentiated way.
New administrative offices will also be located to the west of the new park, while in a more central position is the new auditorium, connected to a work of land-art in memory of the victims of the earthquake, characterized by a large-scale sign engraved in the ground.
